Arizona HB 2549 (2012)

FLGIMGS1000000152_-00_Arizona-Flag-Crest-Clip-Art_3The Arizona Legislature recently passed HB 2549 and is now on its way to Governor Jan Brewer’s desk for her signature:

“The bill is sweepingly broad, and would make it a crime to communicate via electronic means speech that is intended to ‘annoy,’ ‘offend,’ ‘harass’ or ‘terrify,’ as well as certain sexual speech. Because the bill is not limited to one-to-one communications, H.B. 2549 would apply to the Internet as a whole, thus criminalizing all manner of writing, cartoons, and other protected material the state finds offensive or annoying.”

Excuse me? Yet another attempt to prosecute me from afar.

I usually back just about everything that comes out of Arizona. I am a huge Sheriff Joe Arpaio fan. Governor Brewer has more balls than most men I know.

Coming out of Arizona, this is a shock to me. This is of course similar to multiple laws attempted to get passed in various States of our nation and I believe at least one attempt at the Federal level, but these morons have went and done it. They’ve passed a law that will create the Ministry of Information from 1984.

The passage of this law and if enacted by the signature of the Governor would make anything written on the Internet susceptible to the scrutiny of “someone” within the law enforcement community of Arizona. This law isn’t a 1 vs. 1 law. Meaning, it’s not a “someone hurt my feelings, I am going to sue” type law. This law, without any real definitions in place, is a third-party type approach to the criminalization of free speech. If “someone” within their Government determines something you or I write as being “annoying”, “offensive”, “harassing” or “terrifying” in any way, without clarification, they can seek to prosecute you under this new law. It’s entirely too broad and over reaching and it is, in my opinion entirely unconstitutional. It’s censorship, just like Orwell’s Ministry of Information in the book/movie.

Yes. It really is that overbearing. Yes, it will affect you in some way, even though it’s in Arizona.

This isn’t conspiracy crap, this is real and it’s happening right now in America. Even though this reads of some fantastic sci-fi thriller gone wild, it’s the real world and it’s going to hit all of us right in the forehead one of these days. People need to wake-up and see what’s going on around them and quit taking these politicians at face-value. They’re doing idiotic things and it’s a mindset that’s taking over this country.

There’s no other way to say this, but the legislature in that state is full of idiots. There’s no way something like that could get passed anyone with any sense of right and wrong. You can’t tell me that of the number of Delegates and State Senators elected in their legislature would allow this to occur, unless they’re mental, stupid or a combo of the two.

The “dumbing down” of America has infected the adults. It’s no longer just the kids that are infected with this killer disease, now the folks within the establishment have a MAJORITY with this ailment. It’s nothing less than a mental disorder. They’re ignorant and they’re mental. A heck of a combination to be legislating an entire state.

I hope Governor Brewer signs that bill and I hope they read this post and they’re offended. Let them come after me. I’ll gladly be the first to go down as an enemy of the State due to this unconstitutional law. I know plenty of Attorneys looking for a reason to argue a case before the Supreme Court, chances are, many of those will do it pro-bono. How much will it cost the State of Arizona to lose their case against me?
