Civility?

44043485The world, as we know it, will not always be a civil place.

Let us consider that within the context of our current location. For me in particular, I live in rural West Virginia. Some might say, considering the extremely low population of our largest cities, all of West Virginia is rural. To some extent, these people would be correct. West Virginia has a “home town” feel, no matter which “home town” or area, you’re in.

Imagine if you will or hypothesize if you so choose, the United States is in a situation of civil unrest. Just bear with me here. Just use your imagination and let’s run with it for a few minutes.

The U.S. is in a state of wide spread civil unrest and the “government” is doing what it considers “right”. Let’s imagine for a minute that the “government” is splitting in terms of whether they’re “pro” authoritarian – restraining the civilian uprising, and some of the government(s) are leaning toward “power to the people” and a more libertarian point of view.

How will your local government officials react? How will your local police force(s) react? What about the State Police? What about the State’s National Guard?

If the Federal Government stated that all para-military forces, being the states’ National Guard units, perhaps even the State Police, are to be “nationalized”, how much loyalty will the local Government officials and local police officers grant toward the Federal Government, even during a time that the “Federal Government” is maneuvering toward a tyrannical regime?

It’s not just about posturing. It’s not just about preparation. What I am considering is done on a daily basis by “think tanks” for our Federal Government. I am not proposing any type of action, I am giving a “what-if” situation for you to consider. The military does it. The Government does it. Why shouldn’t average citizens also do it?

Ever heard of NIMs? NIMs is the National Incident Management system, developed my FEMA. Check it out here: http://www.fema.gov/emergency/nims/That resource should give you a little insight into the basics for the Government’s preparation and how large the preparation actually is. If the government is preparing in such magnitude, what are you doing to prepare for a large scale incident in your area?

There’s several different ways that all of the different sides might react. Some, seem benign on the surface but can actually lead into a more sinister realm. Being “non reactionary” for the “public good” can actually lead the sheep to slaughter. “What if” you’re one of these officials and the information you’ve been led to believe is actually a move toward controlling an unruly populace through passive means in order to maintain the status-quo or worse, a move to stifle the will of the people?

A majority may no longer be enough to argue a point.

We’ve always been taught, “majority rules”. What if? What if a minority opinion, when duly processed through controlling methods is enough to stifle the will of the masses?

Do you say it can’t happen?

I say you should open your eyes a little and read what’s being going on in this country in the last 5 years. Time after time, there’s been laws pushed down the throats of the American People without a majority of the American people standing behind the bills being introduced and the executive orders being drawn.

President(s) have issued a few executive orders that have went against the will of the people and the will of the Congress. Congress, in a couple of situations, whether in committee or on the floor, have opposed certain bills, due to various reasons and the President(s) have went ahead and issued executive orders, putting these bills/laws into effect. Why do we allow this to continue?

We’re sheep and we’re being led to slaughter.

Now go forth and read. Contemplate the irony of elected officials doing “whatever they desire” without the backing of the people that elected them.

Remember folks, you’ve been taught, majority rules.
